Kidney diet

Low protein diet: the protein intake per day depends on the weight, 0.6~1g/kg is proper. We suggest the patients to take 100-200g lean meat, the rest of protein intake should be from rice and the product made from rice, vegetables, and fruits, and try your best to avoid beans, such as ormosia and mung bean, gluten products and nut fruits. When you limit protein, you have to combine with enough heat, in this way, you can maintain good nutrition. The patients can choose this food of low protein but high heat, such as honey, olive oil etc. In order to avoid because of insufficient heat, and cause the body’s tissue protein decomposition, increase the production of nitrogenous wastes.

Low potassium diet: avoid eating high potassium fruits, such as kiwi, tomatoes, banana, orange etc. and eat less nori, agaric, spinach, edible amaranth. Don’t take rice with meat soup. Drink less coffee, tea, sports drink etc. Plain boiled water and spring water are the best choices.
Low sodium diet: if the patients have edema, hypertension or congestive heart disease, they have to combine with low sodium diet. Avoid smoke food, spiced-food, can etc. But the patients can choose sugar, vinegar, spice, green onion, ginger, garlic etc. for increasing the taste of food.
Low phosphorus diet: for renal insufficiency patients, at the early stage, the patients have to limit the phosphorus intake, which can delay the kidney function decrease. Such as eat less dairy products, beans, brown rice, pluck, drink, egg yellow etc. But can choose the fresh lean meat products, and avoid bone soup.
One controlling
Control the water intake: medium-term and terminal chronic kidney disease patients will appear less urine, so they have to limit the water intake. The volume per day = urine volume of the previous day+500-700ml. if the patients have vomiting, diarrhea, or drainage, the patients should record the output of urine. Or the weight change is less than 0.5kg per day, and no swelling, which are the principle
In addition, the patients mustn’t take folk prescription or Chinese herbal medicine casually, in order to avoid kidney burden heavier. They also can follow the doctor’s suggestion to have proper vitamin supplement and mineral substance.
